"Flight Escape"
16" x 20"
Acrylic
2012
The subject of my acrylic painting, "Flight Escape" is about a plane flying out of a painting of a city into an ocean-like background, symbolizing the need for escape. The contrast between the orange of the city and the blue of the outside ocean, helps the watcher focus on the city more. The texture of the ocean water gives a better effect and style to the painting. The modernization of New York City and the beach-life style of Southern California, inspired me to mesh these two places into a painting. Another component that inspired me was my adventurous mom who frequently travels to visits places such as Machu Pichu, Hawaii, East Coast, and etc. Her need for escape and adventure inspired me to create this painting. The media I used was acrylic paint with simple brush strokes and shading. Through the time I spent creating "Flight Escape," I improved in my shading techniques, skill in acrylic, and learned that patience really helps create something to be proud of.
